The Z-Cron Scheduler can 2000, XP, sight or server, be installed 2003 also as a system service under Windows NT 4.0. A service is an application type which is executed in the background and is comparable with a UNIX/Linux Daemonanwendung. Services (services) are special programs which independently of the registered user provide functions.
The start configuration as a system service is carried out directly from the Z-Cron program set-up. The mode mode is displayed in the main window by Z-Cron in the status line:

Data Exchange between Service and Desktop |
If Z-Cron as a service has started, NT this is executed per default under the (invisible) LocalSystem user account, this makes a data interchange possible between service and desktop, i.e. all applications started from the Z-Cron system service are shown to the desktop of the user open (NT/2000/XP).
Services may share no windows/reports with others user accounts/desktop amongst sight. Z-Cron only therefore displays soft copies as long as a user is registered.
Changes of the service settings
In most cases it doesn't recommend himself the setting "between service and desktop allow data interchange" to change. If the presetting shall be changed or a data interchange be switched off between service and desktop, the settings can be carried out directly from Z-Cron.
Find the service "Z-Cron" in the list of services,
then right click the service and select "Properties".
In the dialogue "Z-Cron Properties" choose the tab
"Log On" and activate the option "Allow service to interact
with desktop".
Click "OK" to save the changes.
Now right click the Z-Cron service again and select
"Start" from the appearing menu.
